Are voluntary donation camps in colleges and offices regulated?

Yes. Any mobile donation camp must:

·       Be organized in partnership with a licensed blood bank.

·       Use that blood bank’s license, protocols and staff for screening, collection and transport of blood.

·       Follow the same infection testing, component preparation and storage rules as in‑center donations.

Signs of a properly run camp:

·       Staff coming from a known, licensed blood bank or hospital.

·       Use of sealed, branded blood bags and professional equipment.

·       Clear documentation and donor consent forms showing the name of the blood bank.

If a camp cannot clearly state which licensed blood bank it is linked to, or seems improvised, you should avoid donating there.
