Safety Guidelines for Meeting at Hospitals/Blood Banks

All actual blood collection and transfusion must happen in safe medical environments, not in homes or public places. Following these guidelines protects both donors and patients.

Always meet at licensed medical facilities

When arranging a donation:

·       Agree to meet at the hospital blood bank, regional blood centre, or another licensed, recognized facility listed in the RedLife directory.

·       Avoid meeting donors at homes, cars, roadside locations, or informal clinics for blood draws.

This ensures:

·       Proper screening and testing of donor blood.

·       Use of sterile, single‑use equipment.

·       Medical staff are available in case the donor feels unwell.

Avoid private money or side deals

·       Do not offer or agree to cash payments or expensive gifts for donation.

·       Politely decline if a donor demands money, and consider reporting this in the app.

·       If the hospital or blood bank charges service fees (for testing, processing), pay these only at official counters and get a receipt.

Keeping all financial transactions with official institutions, not individuals, reduces risk of fraud and unsafe practices.

Personal safety when meeting

For both donors and families:

·       If possible, go in pairs (bring a friend or relative).

·       Arrange to meet inside the hospital or blood bank, not in isolated outdoor areas.

·       Keep personal belongings (phones, wallets) secure.

If you feel uncomfortable with any arrangement:

·       You have the right to cancel or change the meeting point.

·       Inform RedLife support if another user is pushing for unsafe locations.
