What should I bring when I visit a blood bank for a patient?

If you are arranging blood for someone:

·       Bring the request form or slip from the hospital or doctor, showing:

o   Patient’s name or ID.

o   Blood group if known.

o   Required component and number of units.

·       Bring your own ID (CNIC or other accepted identification).

·       Carry any relevant reports if the blood bank has asked for them (sometimes needed for special cases).

At the blood bank, staff will guide you about:

·       Whether blood is available from existing stock.

·       Whether they need replacement or voluntary donors to donate.

·       How long it will take to cross‑match and issue units for the patient.
