Across Pakistan’s hospitality education sector, chefs and culinary students are proving that care for people goes far beyond serving food. COTHM Group of Colleges, working closely with the Chefs Association of Pakistan (CAP), has launched a major blood donation campaign to support patients who depend on regular transfusions for survival.
Over the past two years, this collaboration has resulted in around 1,000 blood bags being donated through structured drives held at multiple campuses. These drives were organized with the support of leading welfare organizations and reputable blood banks such as Sundas Foundation, ensuring that every unit collected meets safety and quality standards. The donated blood is helping patients living with serious conditions including thalassemia, hemophilia, various blood cancers like leukemia, and other critical illnesses that demand ongoing transfusion support.
COTHM has turned its campuses into active centers of community service, with drives held at New Garden Town Lahore, Johar Town Lahore, Sarai Alamgir, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Jail Road Lahore. Students, faculty members, and administrative staff have all stepped forward as donors, showing that the institution’s commitment to social responsibility is embedded in its culture, not limited to occasional events.
Healthcare professionals associated with the initiative emphasize that each donated blood bag carries the potential to help more than one patient. Through modern transfusion practices, blood is separated into components such as red cells, platelets, and plasma, allowing different patients to receive exactly what they need for their treatment. This makes every individual donation significantly more impactful, extending its benefits across multiple cases.
By uniting the culinary education community around a health-focused cause, COTHM Group of Colleges and the Chefs Association of Pakistan are demonstrating how professional networks can strengthen the national blood supply and support vulnerable patients. Their ongoing efforts underline a simple but powerful message: when chefs, students, and educators join hands, hospitality becomes a force for saving lives, inspiring others in Pakistan’s wider community to contribute as well.
