Ramadan Blood Drives Aid Thalassemia Children in Peshawar and Swat

In a timely show of community spirit during Ramadan, the Frontier Foundation held multiple blood donation camps right after Iftar in various neighborhoods of Peshawar and Swat. The initiative targets the critical blood transfusion needs of children living with thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder that requires regular donations to manage effectively.

Hundreds turned out, with young people leading the charge in generous contributions, as noted in the foundation's Wednesday communication. "The enthusiasm from donors, especially the youth, is truly inspiring," said Frontier Foundation Chairman Sahibzada Muhammad Haleem. He emphasized the gravity of the situation: "During the holy month of Ramadan, fasting and daily routines often lead to fewer donations, leaving thalassemia patients many of them innocent children facing life-threatening shortages."

Haleem renewed his appeal for ongoing support, stressing that sustained community involvement could save lives. Thalassemia affects thousands in Pakistan, where safe blood supplies remain a constant challenge. These camps not only replenished stocks but also raised awareness about the condition and the foundation's year-round efforts.
